STORY

Thoth is the Egyptian god of writing, magic, wisdom, and the moon. He was one of the most important gods of ancient Egypt alternately said to be self-created or born of the seed of Horus from the forehead of Set. As the son of these two deities, who represented order and chaos respectively, he was also the god of equilibrium and balance.

This apple tree wood was taken from a deserted orchard, from Olt’s Valley, above its famous gorge. It was a sunny and pleasant spring day, and I was walking on a vague path across the orchard. I remember how surprised I was by how many branches were torn apart by the previous heavy winter. Suddenly I’ve came across this nice tree which had an old branch, intensely dried and darkened by the sun which gave it a special texture. Right next to the branch it was an old wasp nest in which I could only see one old fighter. When I took the wood it flew away.

CRAFTING PROCESS

This fragment was not cut from a living tree. It was found already old and dry.

This piece of wood needed cleaning, washing, brushing and sanding.
