Thoth’s Story

Thoth is the Egyptian god of writing, magic, wisdom, and the moon. He was one of the most important gods of ancient Egypt said to be self-created or born of the seed of Horus from the forehead of Set. As the son of these two deities, who represented order and chaos, he was also the god of equilibrium and balance.

This apple tree wood was found in a deserted orchard, in Olt’s Valley, on a sunny spring day. I was walking through the orchard as I came across a tree with a darkened dry branch. There was an old wasp nest right next to the branch which came to be Thoth.

The Crafting Process

This piece of wood was not cut from a living tree. It was found dry, on the ground.

It needed cleaning, washing, brushing and sanding. It was also treated against harmful insects, pests and mold.
