Caleuche’s Story
According to a Chilean legend, Caleuche is a large ghost ship sailing the seas at night. It is also known to be able to navigate underwater.
This piece of willow tree wood was found in Letea Forest on a mid spring day. It was laying on the shores of Sulimanca Channel which lets the waters of the Delta flood the forest (declared a World Heritage Site since it is the most northern forest containing subtropical species).
The Crafting Process
This piece of wood was not cut from a living tree. It was found dry, on the ground.
It needed cleaning, washing, brushing and sanding. It was also treated against harmful insects, pests and mold.
