Kumiho’s Story
The Kumiho, or Gumiho, is a nine-tailed fox spirit. In Korean tradition, foxes that have lived for a thousand years, accumulating a great deal of energy, turn into Kumiho. Kumiho is similar to other fox creatures, such as the Japanese Kitsune and Chinese Huli Jing.
This piece of old fir tree wood was found close to Strunga Pass, in the Bucegi Mountains, on a late autumn day with mild and clear skyes. All was very quiet, except for a lonely raven which seemed to speak words of wisdom.
The Crafting Process
This piece of wood was not cut from a living tree. It was found dry, on the ground.
It needed cleaning, washing, brushing and sanding. It was also treated against harmful insects, pests and mold.
