STORY

Brighid is common associated with the name with Saint Brigid of Kildare, but it is also the name of one of the most famous goddesses in the Celtic pantheon. This ancient deity was a member of the Tuatha De Danann who ultimately became the Sidhe. Brighid was also known as Brigid of the Flame, the element of fire and goddess of the sun.

This piece of wood was found on Cerna Valley, in Banat region, which I consider to be one of the most beautiful places of Romania. It was a hot and dry summer afternoon, while walking on the steep and rocky slopes, full of vegetation, insects, vipers and even tiny scorpions, which stretch on the left side of the valley, above Prisaca Lake. The wood looked as if it was thrown away at the edge of the forest when I came across it.

CRAFTING PROCESS

This fragment was not cut from a living tree. It was found dry, on the ground.

This piece of wood needed cleaning, washing, brushing and sanding.

It was also treated against harmful insects, pests and mold.
