Astra’s Story

The Brahmashirsha Astra is a weapon described in the Indian Mahabharata, said to manifest with the four heads of Lord Brahma (the god creator in Hinduism) as its tip. When invoked, Astra blazes up with terrible flames within a huge sphere of fire.

This piece of wood was found in Cerna Valley, in the Banat region, on a hot and dry summer afternoon.  I came across it while walking on the steep and rocky slopes which stretch on the left side of the valley, above Prisaca Lake. The wood looked as if it was thrown away at the edge of the forest.

The Crafting Process

This piece of wood was not cut from a living tree. It was found dry, on the ground.

It needed cleaning, washing, brushing and sanding. It was also treated against harmful insects, pests and mold.
