In ancient Greek mythology, Ara was identified as the altar where the gods first made offerings and formed an alliance before defeating the Titans. The nearby Milky Way represents the smoke rising from the offerings on the altar. It is one of the southernmost constellations depicted by Ptolemy in the 2nd century.

This piece of beech tree wood was found in Piatra Craiului Mountains, in a forest next to a very small village called the Yellow Stone. The place is dear to me, because I used to go there since a long time ago and is one of the places where I connect deeply with nature. There are only 5 houses around, surrounded by forest from all sides. I saw this piece of wood in a late spring day, with rainy weather and lots of mud. It was wet, next to the road, by the barbed wire fence.

This piece was not cut from a living tree. It was found dry and old.

This wood needed cutting, cleaning and sanding.

It was also treated against harmful insects, pests and mold.
