Ara’s Story
Ara is the southern constellation between Scorpius, Telescopium, Triangulum Australe and Norma. In ancient Greek mythology, it was believed to be the altar where the gods first formed an alliance in order to defeat the Titans. The nearby Milky Way represents the smoke rising from the offerings they made on the altar.
This piece of beech tree wood was found on a rainy day in the Piatra Craiului Mountains, in a forest very dear to my heart.
The Crafting Process
This piece of wood was not cut from a living tree. It was found dry, on the ground.
It needed cleaning, washing, brushing and sanding. It was also treated against harmful insects, pests and mold.
