This piece of wood was discovered during a forest exploration in Bucegi Mountains, close to Bogdan’s Cave. It was lying down in the form of a big snake, hidden inside a big pile of wood, from which it had to be detached. It was taken in an autumn evening, when everything was standing still.

The name Pan, comes from the god of the wild, shepherds and flocks, nature of mountain wilds, rustic music and impromptus, and companion of the nymphs. He has the hindquarters, legs, and horns of a goat, in the same manner as a faun or satyr.

This fragment was not cut from a living tree. It was found already fallen.

The old wood needed extensive cleaning, brushing and sanding. It was also treated against harmful insects, pests and mold.

The base consists of a different piece of beech tree wood, which was been eaten away by beetles’ larvae forming a unique and superb hieroglyphical pattern.
