In old Irish mythology,Mag Mel symbolizes a Plain of Delight. A supernatural land – where five days equal three earthly years – which is only ever seen by a lucky few. All the plants there remain green all year long and they say you never feel sad there and you can hear the sound of golden harps.

I found this piece of wood while being part of a tree which was carried by a mountain stream and got stuck in a natural dam, on the Vanturis Valley, in Bucegi Mountains. I remember being particularly careful around that place because I’ve seen some fresh bear tracks. It probably came to the river to drink some water and I was looking around to spot anything moving, because I couldn’t rely on my hearing because of the sound of the river. The tree was partly covered with sand and so I washed it clan in the river and seen all it’s details and texture.

This fragment was not cut from a living tree. It was found attached to a tree carried by the water.

This piece of wood needed cutting, cleaning, washing and sanding.

It was also treated against harmful insects, pests and mold.
