STORY

Dokkaebi name comes from  a legendary creature from Korean mythology and folklore. Dokkaebi, also known as Korean goblins, possess extraordinary powers and abilities that are used to interact with humans, at times playing tricks on them and at times helping them, and often possess an inanimate object.

I came up with this rare piece of pine wood while hike through some rough terrain in Bucegi Mountains, on Funrica Mount. It was partially buried in the ground, over some rocks which I climbed before. It was taken on a summer day, and carried in the backpack, alongside some climbing gear.

I consider this piece of pine to be especially rare, due to its texture, age, shape and the fact that it has a sandstone embedded in its body.

CRAFTING PROCESS

This fragment was not cut from a living tree. It was found already fallen.

The old wood needed cleaning, washing, brushing and sanding. It also needed consolidation at one of it’s arms.

It was also treated against harmful insects, pests and mold.
