STORY

In Irish mythology, Abcán was the dwarf poet and musician of the Tuatha Dé Danann, the early Celtic divinities of Ireland. He was said to have a bronze boat with a tin sail. When Abcán was captured by the hero Cúchulainn. he frees himself by playing lullabies so irresistible that the warrior goes to sleep.

This piece of quince tree wood was found in The Danube Delta, in Mila 23 village. It was in an old man’s yard, who, after seeing me so impressed by the wood, offered it to me. He told me it used to be from an old quince tree from which his bees would use its flowers to make a delicious honey. And so, I was offered some honey as well, which raised up to his words. The wood was supposed to be used for fire and it was part of a larger piece which gave birth also to Shabti lamp.
